Information about Dance Cart Kids

Helpful information about Dance Cart Kids

Dance Cart Kids is a dance class initiative for children wanting to have fun and learn the principles of dance. There’s some important information for you to know before you choose to sign up your child to Dance Cart Kids.

WHO are classes for?

Dance Cart Kids classes are aimed and children in Prep up to year 6. We pride ourselves on being completely inclusive. We have easy access into the hall for children with disabilities and attract children from all over north Brisbane with different cultural backgrounds.

WHAT is on offer?

There are three classes on offer based on age and the content is appropriate for that age bracket. We learn the foundations of dance and make sure it’s fun, engaging and with relevant music that children love to keep engagement levels high. We do have a concert at the end of the year so all families can come together and see their children perform. Obviously in 2020 it was different with COVID (what did we do, what do we usually do)

WHEN are classes?

Class frequency is weekly and held each Saturday during school term. The times vary based on the age of your child as outlined below:

Prep – Year 1 class is 9.45am – 10.30am

Year 2 – Year 3 class is 10.30am – 11.30am

Year 4 – Year 6 class is 11.30am – 12.30pm

WHERE are the classes?

Our classes are held in the Uniting Church Hall at Geebung, 59 Simla Avenue. The car park (free) is accessible via Mayflower Street.

HOW much are the classes?

Dance Cart Kids is $150 per term.

There is an $80 registration fee annually that covers costs associated with the performance and costumes.

WHAT do the children wear?

We don’t insist on any time of dance attire. Children just need to feel comfortable and be safe while dancing. This means it’s best to wear fitted shorts and shirt rather than flowing dresses or baggy shorts. Shoes are optional too – dance shoes, sneakers or no shoes, your child can choose.
